About Us

Altofts Private Day Nursery is a privately run family business. We opened our doors on the 19 th March 07 and have loved every minute. We are a small nursery and care for children and babies aged 0 – 5years. We are registered by Ofsted to care for 25 children and every child in our care matters. We provide high quality play experiences for our children and put a strong emphasis on healthy living and outdoor play. Children are listened to and given the time they need to explore and learn from their own experiences, thus enabling them to reach their full potential. During their time with us, our children and babies are encouraged to be themselves and play play play!

Meals
Our nursery puts a lot of emphasis on healthy living and we fully support government guidance on giving our children 5 portions of fruit and vegetables each day.

There are bowls of fresh fruit in each of our nursery rooms and fresh drinking water is available throughout the day. All our meals are cooked in the nursery kitchen and we deliver a varied and healthy menu. All our produce comes from local sources. An example of a days menu is as follows:

Breakfast: Cereal, toast, fruit
Snack: Fruit, homemade baking, milk/water
Dinner: Chilli with rice and garlic bread
Snack: as above
Tea: Beans on Toast

Premises
Our nursery is based in a converted granny flat, and has a homely and warm environment. We started our nursery with a baby room and a larger play room, we now have a new baby suite and a large room that is currently being developed to provide care for children aged 3-5 years, we can take and collect children from our local schools and care for school age children during their school holidays. We have made strong links with our local infant school to ensure that the transition from nursery to school is as smooth as possible. All of our nursery rooms have access to our outdoor play area and we spend a lot of time outdoors.

Communication
We believe that one of the most important factors of caring for your child is communication. We make a written account of your child's day in a daily diary which comes home with you each day, this is a tool that you can also use to record information in. Parents/carers have a hectic schedule when dropping off and collecting their child and so our daily diaries are a useful communication tool. We have regular newsletters to keep you updated on nursery news and also parents evenings to enable you to come into nursery and discuss your child's progress. In addition to this there are parents notice boards in all our rooms displaying useful information.

Staffing
All our staff hold appropriate qualifications and or experience. Ongoing professional development is high on our agenda and we are constantly striving to improve and develop our services.

Opening Times
We are open year round excluding bank holidays and Christmas. We open at 7.45am and close at 5.45pm.
